What You Know: Immigrants & Crime

What you know: People emigrate from Mexico to the USA seeking a better life. They do this legally and illegally, and while crime does occur, it happens among a small portion. This is a complex issue.

What you say: When Mexico sends their people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bring those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bring crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

The lesson: NEVER overestimate your marks; easy scapegoats and simplistic solutions are your friends. Redirect their anger towards convenient targets, stir up their racial and social prejudices, and you will rise to the top.

Spend-It-Not

Covered well here, and here, let me add me 2 cents while it’s still relevant.

I find this ad more funny than racist, and not ha-ha funny either. Until Mr. Spent-It-Not appears at the end, you can’t be sure this isn’t some terrible parody. Hell, I’m still not convinced this isn’t a parody.

The best part: “we take your jobs”. As if there are actually jobs in America to take…

Marks

I just watched Herman Cain’s interview with the WSJ, where he spoke about Occupy Wall Street.

Going by all the outrage on left-wing blogs, you’d think that’s what the whole interview was about. It’s not, of course, and if you haven’t seen the interview yet, you can probably guess what he said. Don’t hold out hope either; even if you ignore the various headline quotes and listen to the whole thing in context, he still lives down to expectations.

We could discuss what he said/didn’t say, what he meant, we could get enraged, but honestly, but who are we kidding? He’s just reading the script he’s been handed.

For the marks he (and his campaign) know will go for this. For the other marks who’ll get pissed off.

And that’s what should bother people.
